Description

Millefleurs is a characterful and tastefully decorated apartment in a wonderful location – next to the River Rance in the heart of the old port of Dinan. Forming part of an imposing old stone house and former tannery, the apartment has been recently upgraded, fitted out and decorated but has retained its character with beams, a granite fireplace and lime jointed stone walls.

With a garden giving direct access to the river and towpath, the apartment is perfectly placed to enjoy medieval Dinan. A short walk across the old stone bridge brings you to a number of good riverside restaurants, bistros, cafes and a good baker.

The apartment is part of a historic stone house dating from the early 18th century and is on the ground floor next to the back garden. Access is from a quiet side street, leading to a communal hall area , with a separate entrance to the apartment.

Entering the apartment, there is a well equipped kitchen next to a living area with a Breton granite fireplace and log burner. Bathroom with bath, WC and basin. Spacious double bedroom next to a second bedroom with two single beds.

Outside there is a gravelled patio area with garden furniture and a pretty back garden with direct access to the tow path, river and the port.

Rental Details

Normal usage of electricity is included within the rent between May to August. Between September and April, electricity is recharged at the end of your stay, this ranges between 20 and 50 euros depending on consumption

Location

Millefleurs is located on the banks of the river, a few steps away from the old stone bridge which links the port of Dinan to Lanvallay. A few steps away is the attractive historic port area of Dinan, where there is a good baker and a selection of popular restaurants, bistros and cafes. On the port you can hire bikes and join the towpath to explore the river and countryside, or hire a boat or canoe and see the river from a different viewpoint.

The historic town centre of Dinan can be reached easily by either walking up the (steep!) hill or taking a bus. Dinan is a well preserved example of a medieval town, with a wealth of original half timbered buildings, ancient castle and impressive stone ramparts. Every two years, the town plays host to a weekend-long Medieval Festival celebrating the life and culture at the time the town was built – an unforgettable experience.

The pretty village of Léhon is about a 7 minute walk from the house along the riverside path; there is an ancient abbey here, a ruined 12th century castle and a beautiful assembly of stone cottages and cobbled streets. Another reason for walking here is the heated open air pool, available to use at all times of the year.

The North Brittany coast with its series of superb sandy beaches is about a 35 minute drive away, St Malo and Mont St Michel are also a short drive and well worth the journey.
