Location

The house is located just outside of Lamballe, a historic market town granted the status of 'Town of Art and Heritage' only awarded to those towns which have preserved their heritage. Here you can find an attractive old part of town, and there is a good weekly market, as well as good restaurants and bakers.

Close by is the forest of La Hunaudaye, old woodland ,formerly used for hunting. Here you can visit the romantic ruins of Chateau Hunaudaye, built in 1220, from which a network of paths lead off into the forest. Close by is the Ferme D'Antan, a reconstructed Breton farm ,which gives you a chance to step back in time and experience the Breton way of life a hundred years ago.

Coming more up to date, you can spend a day at the outside adventure centre 'Indian Forest' set in a wood with high rope walks , slides and other activities

The North Brittany coast is about 15 km away , here you can find the large clean sandy beaches of Pléneuf Val Andre and Erquy, good for swimming and sailing. Attractive headlands and coves can be found right round this coast, as well as the spectacular castle of Fort La Latte and the cliffs of Cap Fréhel.

Further round the coast , is the elegant resort of Dinard and the corsair citadel of Saint Malo, both well worth a detour. A little further away is the famous Mont St Michel, an absolute ' must see' , best to go early or late in the day to avoid the crowds.

Further inland is medieval Dinan ,with its fine selection of historic buildings, and bustling port area. Some of our guests make the journey to see the Normandy invasion beaches which are about two hours drive away. There is also a regular train link from Lamballe to Paris.
